Selfish or not selfish
Do you think survival is selfish? This is the central question of this essay. Survival is selfish because people can’t count on other people to save them. and apathy will kill people faster than anything, so people have to be selfish and care about what happens to them. Many survival stories prove people can’t count on other people to save them.
People won’t risk their own life to save other person life. People who waited to be saved during 9-11 died because rescue personnel couldn’t get to them. “Many people who were used to following the rules died because they did what they were told by Authority figure” (Gonzales 327). People in 911 could have survived, but they followed the rules and stayed in the building and waited for the rescue personnel to save them. They could have been selfish and survived. This links back to my main claim, because my quote said people waited for rescue personnel to save them and they died. They counted on rescue personnel to save them instead of saving them. People shouldn’t count on other people to save them. Juliane survived the plane crash because she left the others and saved herself; she had to look after herself instead of waiting for help. The others who waited for help died. She survived because she was selfish. if she was not selfish, she would have died with the other passengers. “Meanwhile, the others who had lived thought the fall decided to await for rescue, which is not necessarily a bad idea either, but expecting someone else to take responsibility for your well-being can be fatal” (Gonzales pp.326). This proves people can’t count on other people to save them. If the people in the plane crash would have been selfish, they would have survived.
Apathy is the number one killer in survival scenarios. When Ronald Difrancesco was attempting to escape the twin towers 9-11, he only survived because he didn’t give in to apathy. The people, all of whom would die, were just giving up and falling asleep (Gonzales pp.332)
Although it’s clear that survival it selfish, there are those who disagree. Some people argue that people need a reason to survive; this is often thinking of others and the loss they would suffer were they to die. The truth is, you don’t need to think of someone else to survive. For example, Juliane survived the plane crash, and she was only thinking of herself. So, this proves that you do not need to think of someone else to survive. Ultimately, the evidence is overwhelming that survival is selfish.
People do need to be selfish because people can’t count on other people to save them and apathy will kill people faster than anything, so people have to be selfish and care about what happens to them. I think people can’t count on other people to save them. You are just putting yourself at risk, and you both might die. Apathy will kill people faster than anything, so people have to be selfish and care about what happens to themselves. Is also important because when Ronald DiFrancesco was attempting to escape the twin towers on 9-11. He only survived because he didn’t give in to apathy and he was being selfish? Yes.

Argumentative Essay Reflection
Please answer all questions in complete, grammatically correct sentences.
1. Explain the process you went through to write this paper. Please be specific.
We had a discussion about is survival selfish or not selfish. Then we chose a claim. After we wrote a quote that goes with the claim we chose. After that we wrote a paper then Ms. Lehmann told us what we did wrong then we fixed it.
Finally we copied and paste it on this website.
2. What qualifies this paper as an argumentative essay? What are the requirements for this genre and how did you meet them?
This qualifies as an argumentative essay, because I'm argumentative about something that I think is true, and trying to proof my point.
3. Explain how you found at least one of the quotations from the essay and tell me why you chose that particular quote. What did it do for your paper?
Because I was trying to proof my point that survival is selfish and that quote helps proofs my statement it is real.
