My story
It was a normal day. Birds were singing; the sun was shining bright. I was getting ready, for school. I was all ready but before I left my house, I went to say bye to my mom and dad.
My mom told me, “You have an appointment at the dentist so they can look at your teeth.” I said, “Ok.” I left my house and was heading to the bus. I got on the bus and took a seat. The school bus got to the school, so I got up so I could go inside. I said hi to all my friends, who said hi back to me I went to my locker to get my books for class. Nothing happened in class. The bell rang. I got up from my seat and went to my other class.
10 minutes into class, the intercom said, “Mrs. Gordon?"
“Yes?”
“Stephanie is leaving,”
“Ok, I will send her up. Thanks.”
The intercom hung up.
“Steph, you’re leaving,” Said Mrs. Gordon
“Ok. You want me to close my computer?”
“Yes, please.”
I grabbed my backpack and left the room. I wasn’t scared because I knew why I was leaving. I went up to the office. When I got there, they told me my ride was waiting outside for me. I walked outside and noticed it was snowing. I saw my mom’s car. I walked up to it and opened the door. I got in.
My mom said, “Are you ready?”
I said, “Yes.”
Mom said, “Put your seatbelt on.”
I grabbed the seatbelt and put it on. My mom started to drive. I grabbed my phone. We were getting on the freeway 5 seconds later. Suddenly, the car started to spin in a circle, and I instantly started to panic. I was scared for my life.
I looked at my mom and said, “I love you.” I closed my eyes, and all of my memories flashed before my eyes. The thought popped in my mind, This is it. This is the end. Then, I opened my eyes to look at my mom and saw a big truck coming towards us. I was so scared. I thought we were going to get hit by the big truck. I grabbed my mom’s hand, trying to hold on to her. Somehow, the car spun to the other side of the road. We did not get hit by the truck. Me and my mom just sat there trying to process what had just happened. I started to cry.
My mom said, “We are fine.” my mom got her phone to call my dad. I just sat there trying to process what happened.
“Hello?” My dad said.
“We almost crashed,” said my mom
“Are you guys fine?”
“Yes; we are fine.”
They continued talking, but I did not hear. I was busy trying to process what just happened. So many thoughts were going through my head. I felt scared, sad, happy, and so many more emotions. I didn’t know you could feel them all at one time. I didn’t know what to do, so I just sat there.
“Are you ok,” My mom asked.
“Yes. I was so scared. I thought we were going to die. I thought that was going to be the end for us.”
My mom said, “We are fine. Nothing happened to us. We are alive. Be grateful for that.”
I said, “I am grateful. How do you expect for me to be fine when one minute ago we almost died?”
“I am going to cancel the appointment and go home
My mom started to drive home. It was a quiet ride home. I learned that life is scary but you can't let the fear stop you from doing things you love, And live life like it going to be your day.
